The Dutse Emirate Council in Jigawa State has suspended the Village Head of Tsagewa in Miga District, Usaini Muhammad, over allegations of confiscating property belonging to orphans.

The suspension was announced in a statement signed by the secretary of the Dutse Emirate Council, Alhaji Amadu Malami.

According to the statement, the suspension takes immediate effect following several allegations levelled against the traditional ruler, including the alleged seizure of orphans’ belongings and the sale of community farmlands.

The emirate council also directed the suspended village head to refund all monies in his possession within four weeks.

The statement noted that village heads appointed under the emirate are expected to uphold trust, protect the interests of the people and abide by the oath of office administered by the traditional institution.
